Spotify app coming for Windows Phone

Spotify Circle LogoDuring the keynote of the second day Joe Belfiore showed the upcoming Windows Phone app from Spotify. Making a lot of European Windows Phone users happy.

We can expect to see the Spotify app when the Mango update for Windows Phone rolls around, as it’s going to need the multitasking features that the Mango patch will deliver. So unfortunately it probably won’t be available until Q3 2011.

Spotify is a major player in the digital music distribution game in Europe, with services available in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, France, Spain and in the UK. The Spotify client is available for Windows as well as Mac users. It is also currently available on whole slew of mobile platforms, like:

  • iPhone, iPod
  • Symbian
  • Android
  • Windows Mobile 6.x
  • Palm

The UI for the new Spotify client was developed by the talented Danwei Tran, working as an Evangelist  for Microsoft Sweden.

As an avid Spotify user I have during my years as a Spotify user had nothing to complain about with the service and I use it a lot (probably averaging 50hours a week), and I find it great news that they are releasing a Windows Phone app. 🙂
